Gene Quintano – Gene acted in Treasure of the Four Crowns but is better known around town as a writer. His credits include the last several Police Academy movies, Operation Dumbo Drop, Comin' At Ya and a maelstrom of other movies. So I used to keep a fairly detailed diary and I published most of it online. Why? This is better left to my therapist and me. Anyway in one entry I complained bitterly about Gene Quintano movies, offering the opinion that there had never been a good one. A few weeks later, I got a furious letter from Mr. Quintano demanding that I explain to his young girl why I hated him even though I'd never met him. This was my introduction to the strange world of blogging, and I have nothing but sympathy for the guys Apple is suing and the guy Amazon.com is suing. To tell the truth, I was partly thrilled to learn that someone I had heard of could even FIND my diary.

I of course cooperated and wrote a letter to his daughter explaining that while I didn't like some of her father's work, I had a good deal of admiration for him and the way he had managed to make a good living writing movies, something I never been able to do. Mr. Q admits that a lot of his movies are bad, but they were work-for-hire and he has been unable to get financing for his quality projects. Let's pray that that financing one day comes.
